The Bidlaker

“The Bidlaker” was a journal of cycling history that was published bi-monthly through 2015 and 2016. It was named for Frederick Thomas Bidlake, who is famous as the founder of time-trialling in 1890s. It was highly illustrated, and was issued both on-line and in paper copies. The average extent was 60-70 pages.

Its contents included:

  • In-depth interviews with great British riders from Eileen Sheridan to Ian Cammish, and including Les West, Brian Robinson, Mandy Jones, Eddy Adkins, Gethin Butler, Sandy Gilchrist, Roy Cromack and Phil Liggett.
  • Articles on the history of bike design.
  • Reports of outstanding races of the past.
  • Book Reviews.
  • Readers’ Letters.
  • The social history of cycling.
  • A year by year history of the Milk Race from 1951 to 1980.
  • Articles reprinted from the legendary magazine “Coureur: Sporting Cyclist”.
